What is a priest for?

A priest is not a health minister to keep on advising on coronavirus and other health issues. He can even take on and pass on information, but that is not what he was called for. Extremely worries on this issue is leading many priests to forget what they are there for.
A priest is there to be a minister of salvation and throughout his ministry lead on people to Christ for Christ is the way, the truth and the life and we need Jesus to get to God (John 14:6).
Jesus is true God and true man and that is our Catholic faith. Bringing a Muslim to sing his call for prayer in a Catholic temple can only mean two things: extreme disrespect to our Catholic faith or lack of knowledge on how they see Jesus.
Allah is not our God, Mohammed is not our prophet and sharia is not our law. This is no disrespect to Muslims (and I have some Muslim friends) for that is not our faith but theirs.
The priest in this video (click on this link) is only mocking the Catholic Church and the Muslims.

A priest is not an administrator of material goods or worldly matters, though he could be a parish priest, that is not what he was called to do. Extremely worldly worries on this issue is leading many priest to forget what their calling is about.
A priest is an administrator of spiritual goods that are there for our salvation. A Catholic without sacraments is nothing but a mere soul comndened to Hell. We need the sacraments!
A priest is called to make use of the spirit weapons that can demolish fortresses (2 Corinthians 10:4-6) and that can be the sacraments (that brings and contains the presence of Christ - especially the Sacrament of the Eucharist that is the very own Jesus Christ) and the sacramentals (that are like arrows pointing to Christ and reminding us of his presence).
If Saint Philip Neri would say to lay people, "There should be a hospice only for those who are not worried about the salvation of their souls", this should be taken much more seriously for a priest since the lay people rely on his help to be saved from the fires of hell.
For Muslims you only need to reply after your death, Who's God and Who's his prophet?
For Catholics once we die comes the judgment (Hebrews 9:27) and the Church as Mother and Master teaches us there would be 2 judgements, the personal (just after our death) and the universal (after the ressurrection of the whole world to be judged before Christ). Jesus Christ is going to judge us as a severe judge or as a merciful saviour. Some will be thrown on hell and others would be spared and taken to the glory of Heaven (Matthew 25:31-46).

A priest is not a social justicer, in a sense that he needs to get involved in everything he can and consume all his time on human matters, the unfairness and poverty that exists in the world and try to build the kingdom of God on this earth since Jesus already said his kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36). Extremely worries on these causes are leading many priests to forget what they exist for. That should not be the focus of his priestly life.
A priest should have available time to hear confessions and offer spiritual support to save souls. Saint John Bosco is an example that is commonly forgotten nowadays. He would say to people, "If you are in mortal sin come to me and wake me up even if it is 3am, 4am, 5am, anytime, since I am responsible for your salvation". The phrase that was the motto of his life should be proclaimed in good and high volume to remind priests of their vocation to save souls, "Give me souls and take away the rest"
Padre Pio would spend more than 12hours daily in the confessionary because he knew what his priestly life was for.
A priest is not a normal human being to live a life like he wants or how best pleases him since after his ordination he becomes "Persona Christi", that means he died for himself and became another Christ on Earth.
A priest is someone who was separeted by God's fingers and designed to perform a role of a great deal (Hebrews 5:1-3) in order help and collaborate with God's plans for the salvation of souls through Jesus Christ who does not want anyone to perish but all to be saved (1 Timothy 2:3-4).
Indeed, shame on this priest who forgot all about his calling and about who he became. It was certainly not to mock Christ, the Catholic Church and our faith that he was ordinated.
Saint Clare of Assisi would say, "Look always to your beginning" and the beginning of a priestly life is when God spared him, before his birth.
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you came to birth I consacrated you; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations". (Jeremiah 1:5)

Ps. I am not writing this to comnden this priest or priests who forgot about their vocation (or never knew about it) but to warn them as a lay person who loves the Catholic Church, so they can repent and get back to the fullness of faith. Saint Paul wrote:

“Try to discover what the Lord wants of you, take no part in the futile works of darkness but, on the contrary, show them up for what they are. The things which are done in secret are shameful even to speak of; but anything shown up by the light will be illuminated and anything illuminated is itself a light. That is why it is said: Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. So be very careful about the sort of lives you lead, like intelligent and not like senseless people. Make the best of the present time, for it is a wicked age.” (Ephesians 5:10-16)

May God bless our priests and bring them to look always to their beginning.
